From a "child of light" to a "woman of genius": Sarah Grand's the beth book as the new woman bildungsroman

The New Woman fiction, popular in the last decade of the 19th century, contested the traditional notions of gender roles and participated in the public debates on women’s rights. The protagonists of the New Woman novels refused to conform to the submissive and self-abnegating Victorian ideal of femininity. The article discusses the ways in which Sarah Grand, a prominent New Woman novelist and social activist, uses and transforms both the elements of her own life and the Bildungsroman conventions in her 1897 novel The Beth Book to create a heroine whose growth and development result in her personal independence and her active public engagement in women’s issues. Śląski niemieckojęzyczny autor – Arnold Zweig – zajmował się do końca swojego życia traumatycznym okresem I wojny światowej i napisał wiele dzieł poświęconych tej tematyce. Artykuł ten w pierwszej kolejności prezentuje zainteresowanie osobą Arnolda Zweiga w Polskiej Republice Ludowej oraz opisuje recepcję tłumaczeń jego powieści autorstwa nieżyjącej już tłumaczki Wandy Kragen. W drugiej części niniejszej publikacji autorka skupia się na scharakteryzowaniu powieści „Junge Frau von 1914“ (Młoda kobieta z roku 1914).

Džeimsa Lī Burka “Deiva Robišo” detektīvromāni ir plaši pazīstami literatūrcienītāju vidū. Papildus izciliem detektīvstāstiem, romāni piedāvā ieskatu 1980.-to gadu Ņūorleānā, kur tiek parādītas tādas tēmas kā vīrišķība, agresija, un rase. Šajā darbā tika aplūkota džeza tēma, un kā džeza terminoloģija palīdz uzturēt detektīvstāsta struktūru. Izmantojot izvēlēto darbu analīzi, interpretāciju, naratoloģiju un rūpīgu lasīšanu, darbā tika apskatīta džeza terminoloģija un tās sasaista ar detektīvstāstu. Darba rezultātā tika izstrādāta padziļināta džeza terminoloģijas analīze, un izskatīta tās ietekme uz detektīvromānu.

Anotācija Blēžu jeb pikareskais romāns sākotnēji radies Spānijā 16. gadsimtā un to pārstāvēja daži literāri darbi. Taču laika gaitā, izplatoties tālāk Vācijā, Anglijā, Francijā u.c., tas kļuva par literāru modeli, kura iezīmes raksturīgas arī latviešu literatūrai- jau sākot no brāļu Kaudzīšu romāna „Mērnieku laiki”(1879) līdz pat mūsdienām. Latviešu romānistika blēžu romāna aspektā līdz šim padziļināti nav pētīta. Visplašāk pikareskais romāns attīstījās tieši 20.gs 20.-30.gadu literatūrā, kā spilgtākos piemērus var minēt K. We observe insult as a linguistic form (Dérive and Dérive 2004; Laforest and Vincent 2004; Lagorgette and Larrivée 2004) within a deliberately heterogeneous, chronologically and genre-wise, corpus of comics and GR. The female characters in Elisabeth Werner's novels: independent women in national costumes This essay examines the following novels of Elisabeth Werner: Ein Held der Feder (1872), Gesprengte Fesseln (1875), Heimatklang and Vineta (1877) and Wege des Schicksals (1909). Elisabeth Werner, pseudonym of Elizabeth Bürstenbinder, was one of the most popular writers of the family magazine ‘Die Gartenlaube’. The interest of research at Werner seems still to be relatively low.
